Fathers Day 2016

Again here I sit at 9:30 at night working on the blog. I have the NBA Finals Game 7 on the TV as I write. It was a busy day today with the above Father's Day Car Show at church. Darla and I worked the Welcome/Check-in table and checked in the car owners as they arrived. We had to make sure their waivers were signed and get them their paperwork for the show indicating their category and number for the judging. We were their second point of contact after the parking team who helped the vehicles into their spaces in the show. We gave them a gift bag with certificates for free food, a NAPA car parts hat and some sunscreen and other items. We had a comedian at church this week, Michael J, from Dallas Texas. He was outstanding and Darla was inviting them to go into service and see the show. There were food trucks and bounce houses, music and barbecue and it was a fun time. We were at the church before 7 AM and left about 10:30. We had gone to service on Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed Michel J.

We came home and I visited with Jennifer on the phone from LA. She had driven up with McKenny to So Cal and stayed in Huntington Beach Friday night and gone to a wedding celebration for one of their friends in San Diego on Saturday. They then drove into LA, had lunch and then back to Vegas. Sam was with John for Father's Day.

We relaxed on the pool and I got caught up on some sleep and Darla read her book. I came in, watched the US Open golf and then got cleaned up and drove up to Yuba City to meet Darla's Dad and Mother for dinner at Cool Hand Luke's steakhouse. We had a great visit and I'm always so impressed with Earl's love for the Lord and his spiritual leadership of his family. I want to be more like him.

We got home at 8:30 and I called Dad and visited with them and here I sit at the computer with the game on in the background. Darla is on the phone with one of her 19 team members on her new jewelry endeavor. It is the home party portion of Swarovsky Crystal. She decided to join up a little over a week ago and she already has the largest team in California. That's my girl.

This illness that came over me in Washington, DC and I contend I caught when the Ice Princess, Hillary, was at the US Capitol while we were there, is still hanging on. She was visiting Elizabeth Warren, the faux Indian princess and they were deciding if they would put the coven on the ticket for the Democrats. I've been sick for a week and still have congestion and ear aches. I took Friday off from work because I was completely run down after a week of work.

I played golf on Saturday at Woodcreek with Paul and Rico and we played from the blue tees. I shot 88 and Paul struggled to an 89, while Rico shot 76. It was fun and I relaxed back at the house until we headed to church. Darla and I went to dinner Friday night at String's, the local Italian restaurant chain and then I went by my office to pick up some things that I needed.

Darla and I are off to a golf weekend next weekend up in Graeagle, which is in the Northeast portion of California, about an hour west of Reno on Highway 89. I have decided that on these two day golf trips that I will play one game and spend one day with Darla. Darla and I will take Saturday and visit with her uncle who has a home about twenty minutes from where we will be staying on the 16th hole of Plumas Pines Golf Course. We will have breakfast with Uncle Junior and then drive into Reno for the day and have lunch. We will have a group over to the house on Saturday night and have a big barbecue, so we will shop for tri tip and fixings on Saturday. Sunday, I will play at Graeagle. I have played  Plumas Pines, but not Graeagle and decided to play there. I actually had low gross with a 77 about four years ago at Plumas Pines and I'm over it. Actually, I've decided to make sure that golf doesn't define my life and that when we have a chance to take these trips that Darla and I have time together to enjoy the surroundings.

The blog will show up sometime on Monday next week as we have our three bedroom rental on the course from Friday to Monday. I will leave work about 2 on Friday and we will drive up to Graeagle. Darla and I are bringing Frieda with us as Charlie is up in Lake Shasta on a house boating trip with his friends and will meet us at the house. I also have to bring her home as Charlie will be in his Corvette and Frieda doesn't handle the road well in his sports car. So, until, next week. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, especially Kal who is enjoying his first with Master Xander. Ciao.
