Sam and Jennifer in for a wedding

It was actually a very busy weekend. I worked a half day on Friday and we got together with McKenny and Sam for lunch on Friday. Darla was able to meet us at Black Bear Diner for lunch. We had a nice visit with Samantha and McKenny. Jennifer was off to a wine tasting trip with Bill's fiancée up in Newcastle and then an early dinner. Darla was off to a party up in the foothills near Grass Valley and McKenny had some work to do with his job, so they both took off and Sam and I spent an afternoon together. I asked her if she wanted to go to a movie or miniature golfing and she was u for the golf. Golfland was deserted at 1:30 on a Friday afternoon and we had the course to ourselves. They had it dressed up for Halloween and I'm guessing it was a bit more impressive at night. Samantha had a ball and really enjoyed the course. She was hitting the ball a bit hard and it was traveling off the course. She lost her ball about the 14th hole when it headed off the course, rolled downhill by some bushes and into the middle of a pond. We finished the round with just my ball and had to have her hit it and then mark where it was on the course and then I'd go. It was fun and we got a lot of pictures.

Sam got to pick out a little pumpkin and you can see it with her as she is playing in the arcade. I got a ten dollar card and she rode about eight of the rides and we played skee ball and she ended up with enough tickets to get a small ball and a candy necklace. We were going to ride the go carts, but they didn't open until 3:30 and Sam decided she'd rather go get an ice cream at Dairy Queen than wait. We got our Blizzards and  smoothie and as we were sitting talking she said, "I really want to go to your house, Papa," I asked her why and she said she wanted to go to the park across the street. I told her we had to get back to Folsom as Bill wanted to spend the evening with her and take her and McKenny and his fiancĂ©'s son to dinner. She really wanted to go to the park and we do that together a lot, so I took her to Royer Park across the street from the DQ. You can see the pictures of her on the swings at the park. I finally rounded her up and got her back in the car and off to Bill's.

Bill has a great house in Folsom with a single story 2200 square foot house on a half acre property with a 600 square foot "Mother in law's" quarters at the top of the property. Jennifer and McKenny were staying there and the little house has a common area with couch and two desks as well as a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The house is self contained with it's own hot water heater. Very nice.

We did not get to see Jennifer as they were busy Saturday with the wedding, so we will have to just look forward to next month.

I stopped back in the office on the way back and ended up working for about two hours and then headed over to poker at John's house here in Roseville. I lost early, won late and made about $30 on the night. John fixed shish-k-bobs and we really had a great night. I usually bring a little flask of rye and some ginger ale, but instead brought a bottle of Shiraz from Lodi that was pretty good.

Saturday was a sleep in day. I've been really tired at work lately and needed a down day. I did some work out on the lawn and pool and relaxed most of the day. We had dinner with the IBA group that hosted the National Junior golf event back in August. Tabb put on the party at his house in Woodland and he served tri tip and halibut that he caught in Alaska back in September (the halibut, NOT the tri tip). He had a new barbecue and beer tap put in and this was the maiden voyage for the setup. The barbecue is really nice in that it has a sink next to it, the beer kegger and the island is set up with six bar stools and a granite counter top to eat at. We had a ball and enjoyed reliving the tournament with all of the volunteer committee. Pete and Vicky were along although he wasn't on the committee. We had invited Pete and Vicky to go with us to an event at Raley Field that we were invited to as part of our season tickets. When I got the invite I explained that to Tabb. He and Pete are close friends and he insisted that we bring them along.

I was ready for bed, but Darla asked e if we could stop at a bar on the way home as the daughter of one of her Touchstone representatives was playing with her band. It is the Corner Pocket in Citrus Heights and a little local hole in the wall. The place was packed. and Jennifer, who is the singer, is quite an entertainer. Lots of energy and a really good voice. We stayed until about 11:00 when the first break came for the band and then shuffled off to home.

I played golf today in the Past President's event and there were 11 Past Presidents playing. We had a separate $100 skin competition and I had a birdie on number 8 that won $16 and another $24 in my flight for $40. I shot 41 on the front side, but limped home with a double bogey on number 9, which was a harbinger of my back nine. I shot 46 for an 87, net 73. I'll win 5th place in my flight, but it could have been so much better. I was in the first group out and stayed until the end and handled the skin money for everyone. We had over $360 in skin money over four flights. There was no Dallas football today as they are on bye so i could help out.

Well, that is it. You can see the pictures from the wedding where Sam was both flower girl and ring bearer. Jennifer said she did great and she is definitely growing up. When McKenny and Sam came to me office, Sam went with me and met each of my employees. In the past she was shy and would hide behind me, but this trip she stood and talked to each person and I was very proud of her. She asked me afterward if I was in charge of the whole office building. Cute kid. We had a blast and look forward to our trip to Vegas over Thanksgiving. That is it for this week. Have a great week and I'll be back at it in a week's time. We are due for a lot of rain this week and I'm supposed to play golf Wednesday and again on Saturday. Be well. Ciao.
